The Historical Directory of Pubs in the South East of England, including London
If you have a query then try the search engine first, if you have something to add to the historical Pubs site,
please email - and as an added incentive, - if you offer useful information for a Public House or Beer House,
then I will usually add lots of extra detail / landlords. All non-copyright pictures are always welcome;
BUT, if I do not have relevant pictures on the site, then I do not know where to find them.

London Public Houses information starts with the 1881 census,
then Trade Directory entries are added from the Post Office , Kelly and
Pigots Directories; plus Petty Session Victuallers records. The information is
mostly historical, being up to two hundred years previous. Included too, are
many modern and classical images of these public houses; and the occasional
Telephone number. There are now over 8,000 London Pubs - i.e. public houses &
taverns, Pubs and also includes hundreds of beer houses (the early off licences,
and sometimes the pre-curos to the modern Pub). East London, Essex, Middlesex & City of London Pubs. I spend hours on this Pubs
in London site, help me out if you can.
I would like to include the churches next - can you provide
me with pictures of these?
These Pubs in London are London landmarks - use this information to find your way around London [past & present] , and to give you a pointer to searching for other ancestors. I have to point out that I have purposefully used the 1881 census to place a London Publican in a particular Parish. This does not always compare favourably with modern Postal addresses, but there
are a couple of different search engines - USE THE SEARCH ENGINES!
How many times have you given directions, that included Pubs as a landmark, think of this London Public Houses site as the historical directory to London.
Ancestors were meant to be difficult to find.- Try searching for them.

Please feel free to email me with any new detail you
may have about any Essex or London Pub / Public House / Beer House /
Tavern etc.
I get hundreds of emails every day, fortunately most 'spam mails' are deleted by my mail scan settings. The final emails are delivered to various email addresses, and replying to these are not always successful. If you do not hear from me in a timely fashion, please feel free to email again, I do not mind! This is a pure PUBS history site, I doubt if I know where the PUBS are NOW, but try the site for where they were a hundred years ago, again enjoy!
